Welcome back (future) Remote Champ,

This week we’re traveling to the small village of Taggia in Italy 🇮🇹 to find one of my friends.

👀 A glimpse of what you can expect today
  • 🇮🇹 Meet Marco

  • 🌍 Remote reduces carbon footprint

  • ☯️ The future is hybrid

  • 💡 Another tip to land a remote job

  • And so much more 🚀

 👋 Meet Marco (🇮🇹)

I’m very happy to have one of my good LinkedIn friends sharing his remote work story with us in this newsletter. I present to you:

Marco Vannini, the funniest and most artsy-fartsy designer I’ve ever met (OK, I don’t know many other designers but he’s really funny) 😅. He’s also the founder of www.glipp.com, his own design agency with monthly subscriptions. Oh according to himself he’s also “Chief Pasta Officer”.

Marco is originally from Venezuela 🇻🇪 but unfortunately, the situation in his home country made him move abroad. His first stop was in Panama City followed by Mexico City. After some time, he decided to move to Europe and moved to Madrid, followed by Munich before he settled in a super small and beautiful village in Italy.

But why does Marco work remotely? Here’s what he said:

“The freedom to map out your days without constraints! As a creative, there are times when the routine works in your favor, and times it works against you. Being able to move your peak creative times around is essential to producing great work, consistently. Oh, and the casual midday break at the beach is also nice 🏝”

💡 Marco’s Remote Work tips:

 Plan your days ahead
Ideally with a week's buffer time. Spontaneity can create wonders every now and then, but in the long run it's brutal.

 Stay hydrated.
It may sound trite and over-articulated, but keeping a water bottle by your side (at least in my case) helps volumes to keep you alert and focused throughout the day.

Less noise, more silence.
I used to be that person who couldn't strut a mouse cursor without a soundtrack to match it. Later I realized that it's easier to hear your thoughts when in silence...go figure!

🎁 BONUS: to not feel lonely as a remote worker
I have a little local support group of entrepreneurs with whom I meet weekly to talk progress, life, and ask for advice. I'd encourage you to do the same, especially for those living in more remote places where it's tough to find people who are on the same page as you.

🗽 Marco’s must-see in Italy:

“Everything in Italy is a must-see, but I'll say: traveling through the borgos (medieval villages) in Liguria. Magical!”

🧑‍🏫 Tips to land a remote job

Another week, another tip from Kristin Vierra, the Remote Career Coach 🔥 to help you land a remote job and level up your remote career.

This week’s tip:

The magic formula for a targeted experience statement on your resume for the remote role:

Strong action verb + what you did + impact you created (quantified whenever possible for added impact).

For added magic, ensure you’re intertwining your remote skillset (distributed, remote, global, across time zones, etc).

Remember to highlight the impact you created! Quantifying the results whenever possible is a powerful way to show impact.
